Both auto-tuning and the more advanced, self-tuning functions calculate optimum PID parameters. Fuzzy control is a standard feature suppressing overshoot without lengthy start-up time and improving the response to external disturbances by quickly reverting to set points. A standard feature included in the PXR4 is the 16-segment ramp/soap function.

The digital input option that can be added to the PXR4 allows the operator to remotely change between two setpoints, start/stop the control action, start/reset the ramp/soak, start/stop the autotuning, cancel the alarm latch, or start the incorporated timer. The PXR4 Controller offers additional options such as: timer function, heating/cooling control, heater burnout alarm, and the free, standard 16-segment ramp/soak function feature. Relay, SSR driver and 4-20 mA outputs may be chosen. The PXR4 accepts temperature and process inputs, and offers two control output alarms and two programmable alarms.

Daisy-chaining up to 31 controllers on an RS 485 network is an option with the PXR4. Using a PC, the operator is then able to monitor all 31 controllers via the industry standard Modbus™ communications protocol.
